Today the weather was not only cold but gloomy. I didn't have any idea what to do as a pic tonight until I saw my glass vase filled to the brim with shells.
Attempting to make it look like they were nestled in white sand, I used ordinary flour.
I have an alternate set of shells I did today, if you are interested you can see them

Using flour is so smart. I bought a bag of playgroundsand once plus a box of white birdsand. I keep forgetting to use it for other shots than the ones I bought them for.
Your shells look absolutely stunning in your shots.

A wonderful idea for a wet and gloomy day, to go to the beach, not just any beach but one with the finest, whitest sand possible. I am so pleased you are showing us three shots of this beautiful shell.

Oh the flour trick is really really clever! I've got to remember that. It makes this shot, all those little details around the base of the shell. It also complements the creamyness of your subject. Nicely done!

Very nicely taken although I didn't notice the flour until I had read your description.

Wow, I didn't know the name of this kind of shell, but I do have one of these on a display shelf! As always, the lighting, toning and composition are spot-on. You have a remarkable eye for composition and color.

I have to agree with Isabella, in full view that one on the right looks like he is trying to make a break for it. I love the colors and the lighting. Another postcard photo.

Ordinary flour has worked very well to look like sand. Actually I think it was the slightly golden light that did it. Beautiful lighting and a wonderful result. I would have said it was sand! Very fine, smooth sand.

OK everyone go look at this in full view, it's beautiful. The one on the right looks as though he is scooting off away from the photographer...I love it!!!
